Purpose of DSTI
1. Daily Safety Task Instructions is an essential part of
our safety program

2. It is a simple technique to plan safety into the


workplace

3. Everyone involved in the process, it empowers all


employees to become the eyes and ears to identify
potential hazards in the workplace

4. This program will identify the process and different


techniques that can be used to effectively perform

Who is Responsible for DSTI Cont:

Construction Manager, Viaduct Manager,


Station Manager & Tunnel Manager etc
1. Responsible for compliance with this
procedure and to effectively implement,
administer and enforce this procedure.
2. Shall ensure that all Project Engineers,
Site Engineers & Supervisors are
conducting the DSTI.
3. Shall ensure that all Supervisors and
Foremen / Chargehands are trained on
conducting the DSTI.
Who is Responsible for DSTI Cont:
HSE Manager / HSE In Charge is responsible for:
1. Assisting in controlling, monitoring and
auditing the process and informs management
of progress.
2. Providing information, instruction and
coaching, ensuring the working crew’s
supervisors has a thorough understanding of
the DSTI to safely execute the job.
3. Design and modify DSTI if required
Who is Responsible for DSTI Cont:

Construction Supervisor is responsible for:


1. Controlling and ensures the implementation of
the DSTI procedure.
2. Have proper understanding to fil DSTI form.
3. Implementing the DSTI procedure before any
job every day and in each shift.
4. Taking ownership of the process, involves the
working crew in the decision making process.
Construction Supervisor Cont:

5. Ensuring the safety of their crew members.


6. Ensuring that each job is analyzed for hazards and safe
guards are planned and communicated to the working
crew allowing the job to be executed safely.
7. Planning and analyzing each job for safety, occupational
health and environmental hazards.
8. Assigning the job and ensures that the working crew are
bring into line on purpose, and are part of the decision
making process.
9. Providing an environment where the working crew will
accept ownership of the outcome.
10.Responsible for hazard assessment and communication
of applicable safety practices during job planning.
Who is Responsible for DSTI Cont:
Working Crew shall
1. Never begins a job without DSTI.
2. Participate in the planning process and stops work when
conditions arise not covered in the initial DSTI.
3. Identify job related hazards and recommends to the
Foreman/charge hand the work processes that could be
used to ensure a safe operation.
4. Accept accountability, responsibility, and ownership of
work processes, and shall perform the job as discussed
with the Construction Supervisor.
5. Stop work whenever conditions change or hazards arise
that were not covered in the initial DSTI and contact the
Construction Supervisor/Competent Persons to revise the
DSTI before resuming work.

Revision of the DSTI
Monitor the progress of the task and the DSTI
and revise the DSTI when:

• When an accident or injury occurs.

• After a close call.

• If equipment suffers damage.

• When the job or scope of work changes.


Remember for DSTI
• A DSTI must be conducted for Every Task Every
Day.
• No DSTI No Work.
• A DSTI shall be completed for each task at each
jobsite location, i.e. warehouse, shop, construction
site, etc. before operations begin by the task
Supervisor.
• All hazards to be identified on the DSTI.
• All employees on that task must understand and sign
the DSTI form before starting any work for that task.
• Safety officer review of completed DSTI.
• Conduct a new DSTI job No
