RELAXIN

 Human relaxin does not accelerate orthodontic tooth movement in

rats; it can reduce the level of PDL organization, reduce PDL
mechanical strength, and increase tooth mobility at early time points

DEVICE ASSISTED
TREATMENT

29
LOW LEVEL LASER
THERAPY

Tooth movement is accelerated by ATP synthesis

and cytochrome C30 activation, while RANK or
RANKL and macrophage colony stimulating
factor and its receptor expression improve tooth
moving velocity

ELECTROMAGNETIC
FIELD
 By modifying the rate of sodium calcium exchange in the cell membrane, an
electromagnetic field increases the amount of a group of enzymes involved in
the regulation of intracellular metabolism and, as a result, cellular
proliferation.
 Alveolar bone remodelling enhances not only bone cell activity in the
magnetic field but also the production of new bone in the stress zone,
according to histological investigations

CLINICAL APPLICATIONS FOR
FUTURE

Exogenous biological molecules’ administration to quicken tooth

movement during orthodontic treatments has been mostly tested on
animal experiments. However, clinical trials on humans are restricted
since they are to be administered local injections, which can be
discomforting and painful.
