What is the meaning of factors influencing location of
industries-

The factors affecting the location of industries are the availability of


raw material, land, water, labour, power, capital, transport and
market.

Industries are situated where some or all of these factors are easily
available
Factors influencing location of industries can be grouped as -

1) Technical factors

2) Economics & infrastructure factors

3) Miscellaneous factors
What are the General factors ?
1. Availability of Raw material – so the raw material is heavy &
small value, the industries are set up in the regions of raw
materials.
i.e – Iron smelting, brick making & cement manufacturing.
2. Labour – The availability of cheap labour, skilled & unskilled in a
region is an important factors determining the localisation of
industries.Different types of industries requires different types of
labour force.
i.e – Watch making, electronics, computer industries
3. Transport facilities – a good transport network helps reduce costs and
make the movement of material easier.
& the transportation with its three modes
i.e – water road rail collectively plays an important role.

4. Government policy – to encourage industries in the country the


government provides certain guide lines, tax holidays etc.
