What is SDR
The SDR forum defines 5 levels of software radio
technologies: HR, SCR, SDR, ISR and USR.
SDR Base Station Overview
What is SDR
HR: hardware radio Tier0. It is represented by the
traditional single mode base station.
SCR: Software Controlled Radio. It is represented by the base station with different transceivers of different modes.
It has made certain integration on software only.
SDR: Software Defined Radio, namely the software may select different modulation system, wide band signal or
narrow band signal. It is represented by ZTE SDR series
base station products of leading technology in the world.
SDR Base Station Overview
What is SDR
ISR: Ideal software radio, its characteristic is it eliminates analogue RF end, and the entire system may be program controlled except for antenna.
USR: Ultimate Software Radio. It has ISR functions but also requires standardized controller software. The switch between
different radio modes achieves a millisecond level speed.
Because of technical reasons, the two kind technologies above are not yet available for large-scale commercial application.
SDR Base Station Overview
What is SDR
The key feature of SDR---the radio modes may be defined by software.
1The RF front end processes signals of multiple radio modes simultaneously
SDR technical requirement the system supports multi-radio modes
2The baseband processes signals of multiple radio modes simultaneously
3The software is integrated into a unified software version

SDR Base Station Structure
This technology breaks through the traditional base station structure where the TRX baseband RF is in a single module by introducing baseband and RF separated structure
