HOMOPHOBIA

Homophobia encompasses a range of negative attitudes and feelings


toward homosexuality or people who identify or are perceived as being
lesbian, gay or bisexual. It has been defined as contempt, prejudice,
aversion, hatred or antipathy, may be based on irrational fear and may
sometimes be related to religious beliefs.
LGBTQI is an umbrella term for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer
people. The L, G, and B refer to sexual orientation, who a person feels romantically
and/or sexually attracted to.
Protection of Human Rights and Equality**: Homophobia infringes on basic human
rights, such as the right to equality, dignity, and freedom from discrimination
Homophobia contributes to higher rates of anxiety, depression,
suicide, and other mental health challenges among LGBTQ+
individuals.
Addressing homophobia promotes tolerance, understanding, and acceptance, vital for social
harmony and community integration.
Addressing homophobia creates inclusive environments that attract diverse talent, fostering
innovation and productivity while reducing legal liabilities .
Homophobic attacks can instill fear among LGBTQ+ individuals, causing them to isolate
themselves from social interactions. This isolation may lead to mental health issues and
emotional distress.
Such attacks can erode the self-esteem and confidence of LGBTQ+ individuals, making them
doubt their identity and place in society.
Homophobic attacks may push individuals to conceal their sexual orientation, resulting in a
lack of authentic self-expression and contributing to a culture of secrecy.
The stress caused by these attacks can lead to serious health problems such as
anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts.
Homophobic incidents can further divide society, promoting intolerance and
