PAST CONTINOUS TENSE
DEFINITION
USES:
Past Continuous describes an action which started
in the past and continued in a certain time period
 Interrupted actions in the past and if we don’t state when it started or ended.
- When I arrived, Lisa was reading a book.
 A series of parallel actions
- When I came to the school, the school
bell was ringing.
 Specific time as an interruption
- Last night at 11 o’clock, I was sleeping.
