PROBLEM STATEMENT

• In order to support high demand for energy in future system the military is currently developing
advanced lithium ion batteries. lithium ion battery offer significant advantages over high conventional
lead acid system in term of both lead and power capability. lithium ion are capable of catching fire.
• As a result we need BMS in order to ensure they are not put into unsafe and to optimise their
performance. Depending on nature of cell BMS can send warning to user or shut down the cell to
prevent harm.
• Some BMS are critical to safe operation of batteries like prevention over voltage/charging while need
for other function depend on communicating
KEY FEATURES

• BMS ensures battery safety and optimization.

• Monitors voltage, current, temperature.

• Activates warnings or shutdowns as needed.

• Complex functions vary with cell type.

• Requires robust data communication.

• Ensures EMI robustness and balancing.

• Optimizes power consumption and size.

USE OF THIS PROJECT

• Enhance safety and performance of lithium-ion batteries.

• Military applications for high energy demands.
• Electric vehicles for optimized battery management.
• Real-time monitoring of voltage, current, and temperature.
• Prevention of overcharging or over-discharging.
• Versatile use in consumer electronics and renewable energy storage.
• Contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emission.

STEP BY STEP WORKING

1. Arduino UNO: This serves as the central control unit.

2. LCD Display: Connected to the Arduino UNO for visual feedback.

3. Buzzer: Also connected to the Arduino UNO for audible alerts.

4. Lithium-ion Battery (DH 11): Powers the system and is monitored for temperature.

5. ACS712 Current Sensor: Measures the current flowing in/out of the battery.

6. DC Motor: Driven by the L298 motor driver.

7. L298 Motor Driver: Controls the speed and direction of the DC motor.

8. 10k Potentiometer: Provides user input for adjusting motor speed or other parameters.
