MACHINERIES USED IN GETTING THE
WORKDONE
WATER (INTRODUCTION)

Water is a biochemistry solvent with a molar mass of

18g/mol. It has a molecular formula H2O which means two
hydrogen molecules are covalently bonded to one molecule
of oxygen atom.
Water binds to form hydrogen bonds due to its polarity.
It is a transparent, tasteless and odourless liquid. It is also a
life-supporting material for all living organisms.
PROPERTIES OF WATER

• Cohesion
• Adhesion
• Surface tension
• High heat capacity
• High specific heat
• High heat of vaporization
• High melting and boiling point
WATER PURIFICATION

Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological

contaminants suspended solids and gases from water. The process includes:
• Filtration: Usage of sand bed filter. It sediments all visible impurities, fight
against ions, removes odor and makes water soft.
• Reverse osmosis water filtration: Reverse osmosis is a process where water
pressure is employed to force water through a semi-permeable membrane. It can
remove common contaminants like nitrates, pesticides, sulfates, bacteria etc
• Ultraviolet sterilization: This process is used to kill some harmful bacteria and
prevents them for reproducing.
WATER PRODUCTION PROCESS

• The source of raw water is from a borehole of 180ft deep. The raw
water is pumped with the aid of 13/4hp submersible pump into machine
into 5000lts PVC raw water tank which goes through aeration process.
• With the aid of 1.5hp surface pumping machine, the water is being
transferred into the industrial module bed sand filter, carbon filter and
resin filler then to the PVC semi-treated 4000lts tanks.
WATER PRODUCTION PROCESS CONT’D

• 1.5hp surface pumping machine pumps the semi-treated water into the
reverse osmosis machine (RO) with 8 membrane (2000L per hour) for
the purpose of removing a large majority of contaminants from water
by pushing the water under pressure through a semi-permeable
membrane.
• After separation of water, it is being transferred into two separate
different tanks namely PVC sachet treated tanks (2000lts) each and
stainless steel treated tank (1.500Hs) bottle with ozone generator
(6gms).

QUALITY CONTROL

• Water storage
• Daily source receiving
• Micro filter
• Packaging control
CHALLENGES

• Outdated machines which makes work tiring.

• Securing an attachment for the IT program was not easy, because most
companies do not take IT student while some companies don’t even
understand what IT is all about.
RECOMMENDATION

• Provision of new machines.

• University management should monitor student and assist in securing
organizations for the programme.
CONCLUSION

The four months training has exposed me to science and practicals

beyond the class and I had a great time with the acquisition of skills.
