What are recognition systems?
Recognition systems are
technologies that can identify
patterns, objects, or data from
various input forms like text,
images, or sounds.
Recognition systems are
essential for automating data
processing and improving
security, accessibility, and
convenience across various
industries.

Some recognition systems include:
Biometric Recognition Systems
RFID and Barcode Recognition
Optical Character Recognition
Optical Mark Readers etc…

Facial Recognition
Identifies people by analysing facial features like the distance between the
eyes, nose, mouth, and jawline.
These are commonly used in security, authentication (e.g., unlocking
smartphones), and social media.

Voice Recognition
The voice recognition system identifies spoken words, enabling interaction
with devices through voice commands. It can also verify a person based on
their voice.
Used in virtual assistants (e.g., Siri, Alexa), voice recognition improves
accessibility and convenience, especially for hands-free control.

RFID and Barcode Recognition
How does it work?
It is a system that uses electromagnetic fields to automatically
identify and track tags attached to objects, which contain
electronically stored information.
RFID is widely used in inventory tracking, retail, supply chain
management, and even in personal identification systems like
passports.
Barcodes are methods of recognizing information encoded in the
form of black and white bars using a scanner. Barcodes are used
for product identification and tracking in retail and inventory
management.

Optical Character Recognition
A technology that converts different types of documents, such as scanned
paper documents, PDFs, or images, into editable and searchable data.
OCR is widely used in digitizing printed texts so that they can be
electronically edited, searched, and stored efficiently.

Optical Mark Readers
A technology that reads marks made on specially printed forms, such as
checkboxes or bubbles, typically used in surveys or multiple-choice
examinations.
OMR is popular for automatically reading large amounts of data from forms,
such as exam papers, ensuring faster and more accurate processing.
