Volume 1 Ring

Volume 2 The Two Towers

Volume 3 The Return of the King

Brief Summary- The Fellowship of the
Ring
In the peaceful Shire, hobbit Frodo
Baggins inherits the One Ring from
Bilbo Baggins. Gandalf the Grey
reveals the Ring's true nature:
forged by Sauron to control Middle-
earth. Frodo sets out to destroy the
Ring in the fires of Mount Doom,
accompanied by a fellowship of
eight others: Gandalf, Samwise
Gamgee, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli,
Boromir, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and
Peregrin Took. They journey across
Middle-earth, pursued by Sauron's
Brief Summary- The Two Towers
The Fellowship is broken when Frodo
and Sam decide to continue alone to
Mordor. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli
search for Merry and Pippin, taken
captive by Sauron's forces. They join
forces with the Rohirrim, led by King
Théoden, to battle the enemy.
Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam face
numerous challenges, including the
treacherous Gollum, who becomes
their guide. The book culminates in
the Battle of Helm's Deep.
Brief Summary- The Return of the
King
Frodo and Sam face their greatest
challenges as they approach Mount
Doom. Gollum's loyalty is torn
between Frodo and the Ring.
Meanwhile, Aragorn, now revealed
as the rightful King of Gondor, leads
the armies of Rohan and Gondor
against Sauron's forces in the War of
the Ring. The book concludes with
the destruction of the Ring, the
defeat of Sauron, and the coronation
