HILOT
It is the traditional massage using the bare hands and the use of
coconut oil and banana leaves.
Is an ancient Filipino arts of healing, commonly use today to relax
stressed muscles.
It employ chiropractic manipulation and massage for the
diagnoses and treatment of musculoligamentous and
musculoskeletal ailments
HILOT
They also have been known to reset
dislocated sprained joints such as the knee,
ankle, finger and metacarpal bones.
The Philippines own brand of touch therapy,
most widely known as hilot, is an old
tradition.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
HILOT = is a holistic arts and science and Filipino healing that is not only
provides massage services but also of the following:
BANYOS = is a therapeutic bath that is washing of the body with water or
with/ through an herbal solution the purpose of banyos is the cleanse, wash
away dirt and soil (dead skin cells) in the body, and prevent the spread of
bacteria causing diseases.
HERBAL TREATMENT = Herbs used by hilot has been known as the early
source of modern medicine nowadays, that’s why having a hilot treatment is
just like a going to basics of health care practices
DEFINITION OF TERMS

DAGDAGAY = traditional filipino foot massage using two


bamboo sticks. Dagdagay foot massage was usually done
after foot banyos treatment.
BENTOSA/VENTOSA (CUPPING) = is a health care system
use to restore balance of the four humors which is the
blood, phlegm, yellow bile and the black bile.
HILOT MASSAGE
Is a common healing tool of Hilot that involves physical
manipulation of the skin muscles tissues and nerves that is
healing, initiating, life changing and operable therapy.
Is not just a simple massage but it is a holistic art and
science that heals the person Physically , Mentally ,
Emotionally, Socially and Spiritually.

 Improve blood circulation
 Improve lymph flow
 Improve sense of well-being
 Improve skin condition
 Stress reduction
 Relieves muscle ache
FIVE STROKES OF WELLNESS
1. HAPLOS = short light strokes. To distribute evenly, to soften muscle tissue.
2. HAGOD = are long deep strokes usually used for the extremities and the back.
To distribute oil, calm the muscle, beginning/transitional or finishing stroke.
3. PINDOT = one finger press, use to stimulate or massage small areas of muscles
which attached to the bone especially joints.
4. PISIL= two or more finger press. To stimulate or massage small muscles and the
insertions.
5. PIGA= grasping with the hand. Use to calm and relax the big and wide muscles.
