(Congruence of triangles)
Covered by Shrish Rathi
Class-VII-B
Roll No-36
WHAT IS CONGRUENCE ?
• Two figures are set to be congruent if they
have same shape, size and length. That is
they overlap each other.
• Congruence means the copy of the original
one.
• They symbol of congruence is .
• When we write angle A = angle B we
actually mean
WHAT ARE THE
CRITERIA FOR CONGRUENCE ?
1.ASA means two angles including one side.
2.SAS means two sides including one angle.
3.SSS means all the three sides.
4.RHS means Right angle Hypotenuse side.
( The triangle have one Right angle and one
long side Known as Hypotenuse side)
WHAT IS CPCT ?
•The word CPCT means
Corresponding part of
congruent triangle.
Which congruence criteria do you use in the
following :-
A D
(a)Given: AC=DF
AB=DE
BC=EF
So, TRIANGLE ABC = B C E F
TRIANGLE DEF
Solution- The criteria which is
used is SSS because
it have three sides and
no angle.
Which congruence criteria do you use in the
following :-
(b)Given: ZX=RP
R Z
RQ=ZY
Angle PQR= ANGLE XZY
P
So, TRIANGLE PQR = Q X Y
TRIANGLE XYZ
Solution- The criteria which is
used is SAS because
it have two sides and
One angle.
Which congruence criteria do you use in the
following :-
(c)Given: Angle MLN = Angle
L
H
FGH N
Angle NML = ANGE GFH M F
ML = FG G
So, TRIANGLE LMN =
Solution-
TRIANGLE GFHThe criteria
which is
used is ASA because
it have two angles and
One side.
Which congruence criteria do you use in the
following :-
(d)Given: EB:DB
E D
AE=BC
Angle A = Angle C= 90
B
So, TRIANGLE ABE = A
C
TRIANGLE CDB
Solution- The criteria which is
used is RHS because
it have Right angle and
One Hypotenuse side.
