Bosch VMS – iSCSI Storage Overview
iSCSI Storage – hard limits per Hardware
 Each iSCSI storage array has its hard limitations (performance and capacity):
 Number of cameras which can parallel record to one iSCSI target
 Bandwidth (Mbps) => parallel writing to (camera recording) and reading from the iSCSI target (replay via
OP-Client)
 Net Storage capacity considering the RAID Level (Gross minus RAID Level storage consumption)
 Simultaneous iSCSI sessions per iSCSI Target:
 Each Camera can have maximum 2 iSCSI sessions when 2 iSCSI targets are assigned to it for recording:
 One session for the “mounted” Block which is used for the current recording (on iSCSI Target A)
 One session for the “pre-mounted” Block which is used for the next Block to record on (on iSCSI Target
B)
 Each VRM needs one iSCSI session to each iSCSI target for VRM based replay (default in BVMS Operator
Client)
 Each Workstation needs one iSCSI session to each iSCSI target when feature direct iSCSI replay is
enabled on a per
Writing workstation
to the iSCSI basis. Reading for

Bosch VMS – iSCSI Storage Overview
iSCSI Storage – Load Balancing on VRM Pool Level
Where to configure the Bandwidth and iSCSI sessions?
When more than one iSCSI Target is configured to a Pool operating in “Automatic mode”:
 Important to correctly define the hard limits of each iSCSI storage array
 The Bandwidth value is the key factor for the load balancing algorithm between iSCSI storages
within the storage pool.
 The Bandwidth needs to be given on each iSCSI Target in BVMS by the Config-Client (check the
values in the Datasheet of the iSCSI Storage device)
 Device Tree-> click on the iSCSI device-> Right click “Load Balancing”
Note:
 Only one iSCSI Target is configured within a VRM pool:
No Load Balancing possible (this applies e.g. when
only one DIVAR IP 7000 is deployed)
 In BVMS 7.x there is only one iSCSI device type for DIVAR
IP 6000R2/7000R2 even different bandwidth is required:
Adapt the values manually as given in the datasheet (or
