• Imagine a sustainable business model transformation for an


existing company and design a change management plan
• Deliverables to be uploaded by 15th November on My Courses
Group Project (Benjamin Huybrechts’ tab):
3 (40%) - Written “academic” group report (20 pages)
- Video with a “consultancy” tone (5 to 7-min.)
• Group grade can be adapted per student depending on peer
evaluation (ChallengeMe)

Report

• 20 p., possibility to use appendices


• Usual format:
- Times New Roman or Arial, 12
- 2,5 margins and 1,5 line spacing
• Use course readings and company/stakeholder documents, and cite them properly
• Document and justify your claims, using precise evidence (including numbers)
• Develop precise, actionable recommendations

Structure of the report

THE COMPANY
• What are the company’s main features (history, size, markets, key facts and figures)?
AND ITS
1 CURRENT
•What is the current business model and where are the main environmental impacts?
• What are the material environmental issues according to the company and according to its stakeholders? (+/- 2 p.)
BUSINESS MODEL
EVALUATION OF • How does the company measure its impact on climate change & biodiversity and report on such measurement?
ENVIRONMENTAL • How do you assess their measurement and reporting? Is anything missing, underestimated, inaccurate?
2 REPORTING/ACTI • What is the gap between the current situation and what would need to be done to comply with the “climate (+/- 4 p.)
change” planetary boundary?
ONS
• How could the business model be transformed in terms of value proposition, upstream (production) and
NEW downstream (delivery) activities?
3 SUSTAINABLE • What elements of the business model could be circular and/or regenerative (i.e., generating positive impact)? (+/- 5 p.)
BUSINESS MODEL • What would be the impacts in terms of costs and revenues, and how could these impacts be managed?

CHANGE • How could the change be qualified (name of the change, type of change, change SWOT...)?
4 MANAGEMENT • How could the change be communicated (communication plan with its major stakeholders and its media)?
• What are the main risks, change indicators, and corresponding contingency plan? (+/- 8 p.)
PLAN

• What is your cricital appraisal of the company’s actions and objectives?


5 CONCLUSION • Could your change management plan be implemented in reality? Why (not)?

• What could the company and society loose and gain through transforming its business model?
Video

• Must “tease” the contents of the report while being creative and appealing:
- NOT a filmed presentation!
- Various possible formats: TV show or talk, animated drawing or cartoon, interview
of real or fictional characters, role play, press conference,…
- Teaser of the report = highlight of main points, no need to cover everything in
detail!
• Quality of format matters as much as contents
• 5 to 7 min.

Final presentation session

• Scheduled on 5 December pm
• With two professors and half of the group:
- Teams 1-5: 14.00
- Teams 6-10: 15.30
• Video display followed by Q&A session where the other groups (4) will embody a
given stakeholder group and ask one question from that stakeholder’s perspective

“Sustainability” Coaching
Session
• Two online sessions (+/- 20min., informal discussion):
• Sustainability: between 4th and 18th October
• Change management: between 21st and 25th October

• For the Sustainability coaching session: Prepare/update max. 10 slides exposing


the contents of your final group work, including the diagnosis of the company’s
sustainability reporting (class 3 – assignment 2) and the work on the circular
business model canvas (class 4)

• Upload the slides on My Courses the day before the coaching session (4pm)

• Start thinking about the format of your final video

• Bring any questions you may have
