Kshudha Vega Definition
[On the basis of Modern aspect]
Forcible suppression of hunger, often through extreme dieting,
fasting, or inadequate calorie intake, can lead to a range of
physical and psychological symptoms. Here are some
symptoms that may occur when hunger is forcibly suppressed:
1.Irritability: Hunger is a natural signal from your body that it
needs nourishment. When you ignore this signal, it can lead to
irritability and mood swings.
2.Weakness and Fatigue: Inadequate calorie intake can
result in a lack of energy, making you feel weak and fatigued.
3.Dizziness: Low blood sugar levels can cause dizziness,
lightheadedness, and difficulty concentrating.
4.Headaches: Dehydration and low blood sugar can trigger
headaches.
5.Nausea and Vomiting: Suppressing hunger for an
extended period may lead to nausea and, in severe cases,
vomiting.
Cause of Hunger
[On the basis of Modern aspect]
Hunger in the human body is primarily caused by physiological
factors related to the need for nourishment. It is the body's way of
signaling that it requires energy and nutrients to function properly.
The primary cause of hunger within the body is the depletion of
energy reserves and the need for essential nutrients.
1. Energy Depletion
2. Nutrient Deficiency
3. Hormones
4. Meal Timing
5. Psychological Factors
6. External
t's important Cues
to differentiate between physiological hunger (the body's biological
eed for sustenance)and emotional or psychological hunger (eating for reasons
ther than physical necessity). Listening to your body's hunger cues and eating
when we’re genuinely hungry is important for maintaining a healthy and
alanced diet.
Physiology of Hunger
The physiology of hunger involves intricate hormonal
and neural mechanisms. Ghrelin, produced by the
stomach, stimulates hunger when it's empty. Leptin,
originating from fat cells, signals fullness. Blood sugar
levels also influence hunger; when they drop, hunger
increases. The hypothalamus in the brain integrates
these signals, regulating appetite. Nutrient sensing in
the liver and other tissues communicates with the
brain about nutrient availability. The digestive system's
stretch receptors play a role; an empty stomach
triggers hunger, while fullness is signalled as the
stomach expands during a meal. Circadian rhythms
and external cues, like the sight and smell of food, also
impact hunger. Emotions and psychological factors can
affect eating patterns, and long-term regulation
involves hormones like insulin. Understanding these
