I. RECOGNIZE
SIGNS OF
BULLYING,
HARASSMENT,
AND ABUSE.
DEFINITIONS
BULLYING: repeated, intentional behavior meant to harm
or intimidate, often by someone of similar power.
HARASSMENT: unwanted, repeated behavior targeting
someone based on their identity (race, gender,
disability, religion, etc.).
ABUSE: severe, harmful behavior, often by someone in
a position of power or control.
KEY DIFFERENCES
INTENT: Bullying aims to intimidate, harassment targets
identity, abuse seeks control.
POWER DYNAMICS: Bullying often involves peers,
harassment and abuse involve power imbalance.
SEVERITY: Abuse is typically more severe and harmful.
FREQUENCY: Bullying and harassment are often
repeated, abuse can be a single incident.
