Religious Festival is a festival by a
certain or specific group of churches
or religions.
Non-religious Festival is a festival
with a group of people, community or
a region due to tradition and culture.
Dinagyang Festival
The Dinagyang Festival is a religious and
cultural festival in Iloilo City, Philippines, held
annually on the fourth Sunday of January in
honor of Santo Niño, the Holy Child. It is one
of the largest festivals in the Philippines,
drawing hundreds of thousands to over a
million visitors every year.
Moriones Festival
Celebrated in Marinduque during Holy Week,
Moriones Festival is another famous religious
festival in the Philippines. You’ll see men wearing
masks called “moriones” to embody the story of
Longinus, the blind Roman soldier who speared
Jesus Christ. His eyesight was believed to be
healed by the blood from the side where Jesus was
pierced.
Pintados - Kasadyahan
Also known as Pintados Festival, this cultural and
religious event is held annually in Tacloban City to
honor Sr. Santo Niño. It is based on the body-
painting traditions of the ancient tattooed warriors
called “pintados”.
Masskara Festival
Masskara Festival is a huge celebration in Bacolod
City every fourth Sunday of October. During the
grand parade, street dancers wear attractive
costumes and masks that reflect the joy of its
people, making it known as the “Festival of Smiles”.
Pahiyas Festival
Officially called the Lucban San Isidro Pahiyas
Festival, it is one of the grandest and most colorful
harvest festivals in the Philippines. It honors San
Isidro de Labrador, the patron saint of farmers.
During this fiesta in the Philippines, the locals
decorate their homes with fruits, vegetables,
flowers, and other local produce, making them
visually appealing masterpieces.
Panagbenga Festival
Panagbenga Festival is a month-long flower festival
in Baguio City honoring the season of blooming.
During the parade day, spectators are treated to
visually striking floats covered with different species
of flowers and plants.
Sinulog Festival
The Sinulog Festival is Cebu’s biggest and most
popular festival. The feast is in honor of the Holy
Child, the Sto. Niño de Cebu. Fiesta Señor, as it is
widely known, is the celebrated every 3rd Sunday of
January where people converge along the route of a
grand solemn procession and partake in the gaiety
amidst a mardi-gras-type parade immersed in wild
colors and the constant beating of drums of the ‘Pit
Senyor’.
Ati - atihan Festival
The Kalibo Santo Niño—Ati-Atihan Festival, also
simply called Ati-Atihan Festival, is a Philippine
festival held annually in January in honor of the Santo
Niño in several towns of the province of Aklan, Panay
Island.
Kadayawan Festival
The Kadayawan Festival is an annual festival in the
city of Davao in the Philippines. The festival is a
celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of
nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest
and serenity of living.
Bailes De Luces
Bailes de Luces translates to “dances of lights.” It is a
celebration during the yuletide season in December to
the first week of January in La Castellana and this
yearly event is meant to express hope and
thanksgiving of townsfolk for year-round blessings.
