Islam’s root word in Arabic is ‫ سلم‬which means

1-Being away from all sorts of apparent or hidden miseries

Technical meaning of Islam

Islam is admitting that Allah is one and the submission of will with sincerity and
complete focus. Having faith in the principles of Deen that came from Allah.

The word Islam in Quran

Islam against shirk
Say: Shall I choose for a protecting friend other than Allah, the Originator of the
heavens and the earth, Who feedeth and is never fed? Say: I am ordered to be the
first to surrender (unto Him). And be not thou (O Muhammad) of the idolaters. ﴾14﴿

Islam against Kufar
And he commanded you not that ye should take the angels and the prophets for lords.
Would he command you to disbelieve after ye had surrendered (to Allah)? ﴾80﴿

Islam in the meaning of sincerity
Who is better in religion than he who surrendereth his purpose to Allah while doing good
(to men) and followeth the tradition of Abraham, the upright? Allah (Himself) chose
Abraham for friend. ﴾125﴿
125 :‫النساء‬
Islam in the meaning of obedience
Turn unto your Lord repentant, and surrender unto Him, before there come unto you the
doom, when ye cannot be helped. ﴾54﴿

The Word Islam and Prophets In The Quran

Nuh (AS)
But if ye are averse I have asked of you no wage. My wage is the concern of Allah only, and I am commanded to be of those
who surrender (unto Him). ﴾72﴿
72:‫يونس‬
Ibrahim (AS)
When his Lord said unto him: Surrender! he said: I have surrendered to the Lord of the Worlds. ﴾131﴿
131 ‫البقرة‬
Yusuf (AS)
O my Lord! Thou hast given me (something) of sovereignty and hast taught me (something) of the interpretation of events -
Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protecting Guardian in the world and the Hereafter. Make me to die
muslim (unto Thee), and join me to the righteous. ﴾101﴿

And Moses said: O my people! If ye have believed in Allah then put trust in Him, if ye have indeed surrendered (unto

But when Jesus became conscious of their disbelief, he cried: Who will be my helpers in the
cause of Allah? The disciples said: We will be Allah's helpers. We believe in Allah, and bear
thou witness that we have surrendered (unto Him). ﴾52﴿
52 :‫آل عمران‬
Did all the messengers of Allah invited their nations to the same principles?
And We sent no messenger before thee but We inspired him, (saying): There is no Allah save
Me (Allah), so worship Me. ﴾25﴿
25 :‫األنبياء‬
Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we
shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of
us shall take others for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that
we are they who have surrendered (unto Him). ﴾64﴿

Reason for conflict in Deen (Christianity & Judaism)
Those who (formerly) received the Scripture differed only after knowledge came unto
them, through transgression among themselves. Whoso disbelieveth the revelations of
Allah (will find that) lo! Allah is swift at reckoning. ﴾19﴿

 Independence and Freedom
Indeed, those you [polytheists] call upon besides Allāh are servants [i.e., creations] like
you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you should be truthful.
194: Ala’raaf
If you ask them ˹O Prophet˺ who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly
say, “Allah!” Ask ˹them˺, “Consider then whatever ˹idols ˺ you invoke besides Allah: if it
was Allah’s Will to harm me, could they undo that harm? Or if He willed ˹some ˺ mercy for
me, could they withhold His mercy?” Say, “Allah is sufficient for me. In Him ˹alone ˺ the
faithful put their trust.”

And it is not [possible] for one to die except by permission of Allah at a decree determined. And whoever

The Shirk ‫ شرك‬and Its Manifestations

Meaning of Shirk:
The act of associating a being in the worship of Allah Almighty may it be an
idol, tree, animal, grave, star, nature, person, or a belief that Allah has sons
or daughters

The Atrocity of Shirk

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is
less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah
has certainly gone far astray.

Faith in Day of judgement

Umar ibn al-Khattab reported:
Hadith-e-Jibreel
 We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be

upon him, one day, a man appeared with very white clothes and very

black hair. There were no signs of travel on him and we did not

recognize him.
Hadith-e-Jibreel

 He sat in front of the Prophet, rested his knees by his knees, and placed his

hands on his thighs. The man said, “O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.”

 The Prophet said, “Islam is to testify there is no God but Allah and

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, to give

charity, to fast the month of Ramadan, and to perform pilgrimage to

the House if a way is possible.

Hadith-e-Jibreel

 ” The man said, “You have spoken truthfully.” We were surprised that he

asked him and said he was truthful. He said, “Tell me about faith.”

 The Prophet said, “Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His

Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in

providence, its good and its harm.”

Hadith-e-Jibreel

 Tell me about excellence.” The Prophet said, “Excellence is to worship

Allah as if you see Him, for if you do not see Him, He surely sees

you.”
 Hadith-e-Jibreel

 The man said, “Tell me about the final hour.” The Prophet said, “The one asked does
not know more than the one asking.

 The man said, “Tell me about its signs.” The Prophet said, “The slave-girl will give
birth to her mistress and you will see barefoot, naked, and dependent
shepherds compete in the construction of tall buildings.”
 Hadith-e-Jibreel

 The man said, “You have spoken truthfully.” Then, the man returned and I remained. The Prophet

said to me, “O Umar, do you know who he was?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.”

The Prophet said, “Verily, he was Gabriel who came to teach you your religion.”
 Completion of Deen Verse : Al-
Maedah - 03

}‫{ اْلَيْوَم َأْكَمْلُت َلُكْم ِديَنُكْم َوَأْتَمْمُت َعَلْيُكْم ِنْعَمِتي َوَر ِضيُت َلُكُم اِإلْس َالَم ِديًنا‬

This day I have perfected your religion for you and I have completed My favours

upon you and I have chosen al-Islam as religion for you.

baqara 284-286

‫ِّلَّلِه َما ِفى ٱلَّسَمٰـَٰوِت َوَما ِفى ٱَأْلْر ِض ۗ َوِإن ُتْبُدو ۟ا َما ِفٓى َأنُفِس ُكْم َأْو ُتْخُفوُه ُيَح اِسْبُكم ِبِه ٱلَّلُه ۖ َفَيْغِفُر ِلَمن‬

‫َيَش ٓاُء َوُيَعِّذُب َمن َيَش ٓاُء ۗ َوٱلَّلُه َعَلٰى ُكِّل َش ْى ٍۢء َقِديٌر‬

To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.

Whether you reveal what is in your hearts or conceal it, Allah will call you to

account for it. He forgives whoever He wills, and punishes whoever He wills. And

Allah is Most Capable of everything.

‫َءاَمَن ٱلَّر ُس وُل ِبَمٓا ُأنِزَل ِإَلْيِه ِمن َّر ِّبِهۦ َوٱْلُمْؤِمُنوَن ۚ ُكٌّل َءاَمَن ِبٱلَّلِه َوَمَلٰٓـِئَكِتِهۦ َوُكُتِبِهۦ َوُر ُس ِلِهۦ اَل ُنَفِّر ُق َبْيَن َأَح ٍۢد ِّمن ُّر ُس ِلِهۦ‬
‫َأ‬
‫ۚ َوَقاُلو ۟ا َس ِمْعَنا َو َطْعَنا ۖ ُغْفَر اَنَك َر َّبَنا َوِإَلْيَك ٱْلَمِصيُر‬

The Messenger ˹firmly˺ believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and so do

the believers. They ˹all˺ believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, and His messengers. ˹They

proclaim,˺ “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We

hear and obey. ˹We seek˺ Your forgiveness, our Lord! And to You ˹alone˺ is the final return.”

‫اَل ُيَكِّلُف ٱلَّلُه َنْفًس ا ِإاَّل ُوْس َعَها ۚ َلَها َما َكَس َبْت َوَعَلْيَها َما ٱْكَتَس َبْت ۗ َر َّبَنا اَل ُتَؤاِخ ْذَنٓا ِإن َّنِس يَنٓا َأْو َأْخ َطْأَنا ۚ َر َّبَنا َواَل َتْحِمْل َعَلْيَنٓا ِإْص ًۭرا َكَما‬

‫َح َمْلَتُهۥ َعَلى ٱَّلِذيَن ِمن َقْبِلَنا ۚ َر َّبَنا َوَلُتَح ِّمْلَنا َما اَل َطاَقَة َلَنا ِبِهۦ ۖ َوٱْعُف َعَّنا َوٱْغِفْر َلَنا َوٱْر َح ْمَنٓا ۚ َأنَت َمْوَلٰىَنا َفٱنُصْر َنا َعَلى ٱْلَقْوِم ٱْلَكٰـِفِرين‬

Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford. All good will be for its own benefit,

and all evil will be to its own loss. ˹The believers pray, ˺ “Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or

make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place a burden on us like the one you placed on those before us.

Our Lord! Do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us.

You are our ˹only˺ Guardian. So grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”
Akhlaq-e-rasool-e Paak : Alqalam
verse 4

‫َوِإَّنَك َلَعَلٰى ُخ ُلٍق َعِظي ٍۢم‬

And you are truly ˹a man˺ of outstanding character.
