In the second half of the 18th century, the sultans of
mysore, Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan led military
Campaigns in Northern Kerala. As a result , smaller
swaroopams including Nediyiruppu and kola came
under the control of mysore sultans. Many naduvazhis
and devadasis fled to venad in fear of attack of mysore
sultans. Travancore was only region that resisted the
attack from mysore. During this period, kerala divided in
to 3 regions, Travancore, kochi, Malabar. By end of 18th
c, East India company defeated Tipu and got control of
malabar. Thus led to end of independent
