Players kick the ball with their feet (but

tournament called the World Cup. Brazil has
won the most World Cups, followed by
Germany and Italy.

and they pass the ball by throwing it with their
hands. Points are scored by throwing the ball
through a small metal hoop, which has a net.

Golf is an individual sport, where
the goal is to hit a small, white ball into a
small hole, starting usually around 300m
away. The player hits the ball with a long,
skinny, metal club. Each time the ball stops
moving, the player then hits it again from its
new position until the ball is finally inside the
hole. There are 18 holes in total. This sport
is played all over the world and is popular in
most countries. The most prestigious
tournament is the US Masters.

Track & is a general name for many
related sports and events, such as the
Field
100m sprint, the long jump, the high jump
and the javelin (where contestants throw a
long spear as far as they can). This is a
truly international sport, as basically every
country in the world competes in it. It runs
for many days during the Olympics and
there are medals for every event. One of
Colombia’s most famous athletes is
Caterine Ibargüen, who won the gold medal
for the long jump in the 2016 Olympic
Games.

Cycling is another international
sport, as anyone can participate in and
practice it if they have a bicycle. There are
lots of different types of competitions in this
sport, including racing inside a velodrome
and riding through mountains and cities,
but the most famous race in the world is the
Tour de France. This sport is one of the
most popular in Colombia, and the country
has had lots of successful riders, most
notably Nairo Quintana.

Skiing is an individual sport that
people participate in competitively and also
for recreation. It involves sliding down a
snow-covered slope with two long metal
planks attached to your feet, called skis.
This is not a common sport in Colombia, as
there are very few places where it can be
practiced. However, it is extremely popular
in the USA, Europe, New Zealand and
Japan. It can be quite an expensive sport to
practice.

Baseball is a team sport that is
extremely popular in the USA, Canada,
many parts of Latin America and some parts
of Asia. There are nine players on each
team, but the game is based around one
person (the pitcher) throwing the ball past
a person with a bat (the batter/hitter), who
tries to hit the ball. There are eight players
on the field with the pitcher and they are
called fielders. There are four bases and a
run is scored by running around them until
you touch the original (home) base. The
Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are
two of the most famous teams.

Boxing is a type of competitive
fighting, in which two people attempt to
punch each other in the head or chest.
Each fight consists of up to 15 rounds of
three minutes. A competitor wins by
scoring the most points according to
judges, or by knocking their opponent
unconscious. A fighter must wear gloves in
order to participate and punching below
the waist is prohibited. The most famous
fighter in this sport was Muhammad Ali.
