• I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
• Finally, it is important that you plan to cover the assigned reading and review the PowerPoint slides in a systematic manner.
• Each week, I will upload the Power point slides and provide a weekly update.
• You can contact me by email and I will seek to respond in 24 hours on weekdays.

• Some parts of the course material may be controversial; upsetting or even
distasteful for some individuals.
• This course may challenge perceptions & beliefs regarding sex, gender & crime
• We may also discuss some very sensitive and emotive topics. Respect is expected
for all persons in the class. Our class should be our safe space.
• Aim
• Seek to expose the different & critical issues associated with gender & crime and to
facilitate critical analysis.
• To facilitate discussion of the intersections of race, class, sex, crime & the criminal
justice system.
NB. The text does not specifically discuss LGBTQ2+ issues. Please be reminded that
the CJS data is still binary but, feel free to raise those issues.
