 Definition of Terms
Host
- A computer or device connected to the network.
Network Address
- The address where the hosts are connected.
Default gateway
 - A default access point or IP router that a network hosts or computer uses to send
information to another network or the Internet.
Private IP addresses
 - Special non-routable IP addresses that are used in the translated to public
internet IP addresses when the device needs to talk to the internet.
     To configure your server with a
     Static IP address, follow these
                  steps:
1 Click the Start button > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center. The
Network and Sharing window appears.
2 Click the View status link for the Local Area Connection. The Local Area
Connection
Status window appears.
3 Click Properties. The Local Area Connection Properties window appears.
4 Click the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) component, and then click
Properties.
The Internet Protocol Version window appears.
    To configure your server with a Static IP address, follow these steps:

selection button, and then enter the
following information in the appropriate
textboxes.
 CCC recommends using a non-routable
 address range such as the following:
 Workstation 1: 192.168.0.10
 Workstation 2: 192.168.0.20
 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
 Important! Each system on the network must be configured with
a unique IPaddress.

How to Change the Name of Your
Windows Computer
Here are three routes you can take to open up System Properties:
• Type sysdm.cpl into the start menu search box (quickest)
• Right-click on the Computer option on the start menu or in My Computer.
• Open Control Panel, and go to System and Maintenance, and then System.

  Advanced System Settings on the left menu:
