What is Preposition of
Time?
•Prepositions are classified into different types
based on their functions. One among them is the
preposition of time. This article has some
preposition of time exercises that you can try out
to check how far you know its usage.
• Prepositions are words that precede a noun or
pronoun and express a relationship between it and
another word. A preposition of time can express
when something happens at one point in time or
when something happens over an extended period
of time.
When to use at and on?
• AT - The preposition of time ‘at’ is used to
indicate precise timings. For example, “We’ll
meet at night.” Here, ‘at night’ refers to the
precise time of the day.
• ON - The preposition of time ‘on’ is used to
indicate the days and dates. For example,
“My birthday is on the 3rd of March.”
EXERCISE 1: Fill in the blanks with the
correct prepositions of time. Use ‘on’,
‘in’ or ‘at’.
