it:
• Promotes equality among
citizens;
• Enhances the dignity of the
individual;
• Improves the quality of decision

What are the outcomes of democracy?

Democracy is just a form of government based on a


deal; political philosophy

It can only create conditions to achieve something

The citizens have to take advantage of those


conditions and achieve those goals.
Outcomes of democracy:
• Political equality: All individuals have unalienable rights to adult
franchise.

• Accommodation of social diversity: Democracy is the best


government to respect differences and evolve a mechanism to
negotiate differences.

• Majority works with minority: The majority always needs to work


with the minority so that governments function to represent the
general view.

• Dignity and freedom of individuals: The passion for respect and


freedom are the basis of democracy. Democracies throughout the
world have recognised this, at least in principle.

• Perennial expectations: The fact that people are complaining is

• There are instances still of caste-based inequalities and
atrocities.
• Democratically elected governments do not appear to be as
keen
to address the question of poverty as you would expect them
to.
• Democracies often frustrate the needs of the people and
have an unfavourable record of corruption.
• Democratic governments do not have a very good record

it comes to sharing information with citizens.
