Comparision to lubrication of rolling bearings
In general same lubricants for linear guides like for rolling
bearings but there is one fundamental different:
VS.
• Linear guides require far more lubricant than rotating bearings
• Mixed friction at beginning and end of each stroke
• Lubricant is spread across the guide rail or spindle during
motion
Relubrication with shorter intervals is necessary for linear movements

and lubricants it is not possible to give a general
recommendation regarding compatibility

False brinelling / vibration resistant greases
What are typical requirements?
• Prevention of raceway damage Better extreme pressure (EP) protection
• Prevention of fretted oxide deposits than offered by standard simple soap
• Prevention of false brinelling damage greases. Higher base oil viscosity for
more effective wear protection
