Introduction
• The term "workplace spirituality" fosters strong relationships with employees and other
organization associates while keeping the coherence between one's principles and those of the
organization.
• The primary goal of workplace spirituality is to comprehend spirit in the workplace and after
being recognized for one's spirituality and religious beliefs at a place of employment that
fosters a culture of respect for all faiths
• Workplace spirituality is a building bridge for a person to relate to an organization (J.
Letourneau, 2016). Workplace spirituality is keenly going through this dimension; such as; a
sense of community, and organizational value is confirmed positively linked with
organizational commitment. In the workplace, spirituality refers to spirit, joy, and inspiration.
There has been a piece of evidence provided by spirituality through the connection
(Subhadeep Mukherjee, et.al. 2017).
• It has considered providing fresh perspectives and views on how people interact and feel
more intrinsically motivated at work in the eyes of employee engagement. Spirituality at the
workplace visualizes the truth of the purpose of connectedness and transcendence. Workplace
spirituality has been affected by employee dedication, job happiness, and Work-life fit (Naval
Garg 2017).
Rational of the topic
• Changing nature of work, leading to dynamic workplace in organization
have created lots of pressure on the employees.

• Though plethora of work has done in this area while considering many
factors, but still the research in employee wellbeing related to reduce job
burnout has still remained undiscovered area which needs an empirical
examination to draw some fruitful conclusions through which both the
organizations as well as employees could be benefitted.
Statement of the Problem
• The problem of workplace spirituality and employee wellbeing is highly prevalent
among private banking industries who is facing job burnout due to highly dynamic,
competitive and changing environment.
• Although banking industry has played a vital role in the wealth of nations but on
the other side, it has been found that the lives of employees and their wellbeing are
inevitably full of stress which needs an urgent solution.
• The pandemic had massive effects on both employees and organizations. Since
then, workplace spirituality has gained attention in both the public and private
sectors.
• Researcher formulated the statement of the research problem as “Is really
workplace spirituality is associated with job burnout in banking organizations?”
which was investigated in the study.This is the problem which was addressed by the
researcher in this study. This research has also investigated about the perceived
understanding of the employees regarding workplace spirituality in the banking
organizations.

countries such as China, Germany, and England.

investigation.

Research objective
• To study the workplace spirituality of employees working in
banking sector of Odisha, India.

• To study the relationship between of workplace spirituality

Proposed Hypothesis
• Null Hypotheses (H1): workplace spirituality has no significant association with
job burnout.
• Alternative hypotheses (H1a): workplace spirituality has significant association with
job burnout.
• Null Hypotheses ( ) : There is no significant role of psychological capital on the relationship
between the workplace spirituality and job burnout.
• Alternative hypotheses () :There is significant role of psychological capital on the
relationship between the workplace spirituality and job burnout.
Tentative outcome
• Mindfullness programmes or events should be organized in the organizations for
all levels of employees in order to promote spirituality among employees. This will
be able to enhance their spiritual orientation which would help them in developing
positivity and hence would be able to relieve from job burnout and making their
employee healthy both physical and mentally.
• This study has provided new gateways to senior management, HR managers and
business experts to design and implement spirituality-based stress management
intervention programs for stress reduction so that employees as well as organizations
would be benefitted.
• The study has made an attempt to explore the different spiritual practices prevailed
among employees working in topmost banking sectors. This is the new exploration
with respect to spiritual practices with reference to banking sector.
