• Topics include rock and mineral types, soil properties, rock mechanics,
geologic structures, active tectonics and earthquake hazards, slope
stability and landslides, groundwater, rivers and flood hazards.
• Team projects include engineering geology case studies and site
assessment investigations.

– occurrence, properties and distribution of following rocks:
Igneous rocks
- Granite, Syenite, Diorite, Gabbro, Pegmatite, Dolerite and Basalt.
Sedimentary rocks
- sandstone, Limestone, Shale, Conglomerate and breccia.
Metamorphic rocks
- Quartzite, Marble, Slate, Gniess and Schist.

MECHANICS
Each student must prepare a Powerpoint presentation of their topic,
provided with a 2 pieces of two page note (one each for the instructor
and reporter) to be passed before or on the day of respective schedule.
Failure to provide will incur a grade deduction.

Aside from the instructor, the classmates of the reporter will also grade
their presentation, based on the rubrics given.

A seatwork/assignment will be given depending on the instructor.
