• Gender is a socially constructed idea that prescribes social and
cultural roles to male and females as per their biological identities.

Gender STEREOTYPE
A stereotype is a simplified and often exaggerated belief or idea about a particular
group of people. It's a generalization that may not accurately represent individuals
within that group.
Generally, Stereotypes are created on the basis of gender, religion, race, caste, region,

Gender Inequalities
• Female infanticide: The practice of killing female children within
the first year of their birth.
• In
many families, girls are denied their right to education, food,
and employment opportunities.
• Inpublic places the efforts of the women are not considered to be
of equal value as that of their male counterparts.
• They also face violence in private and public spheres.
• Various schemes and programs are introduced to encourage the
enrolment of girls in schools.
