WHAT IS E-TAX

 E-Tax is a website which connects the taxpayer


with Tax Authority using internet. It’s linked to the
SIGTAS database, so all saved activities occurring
in e-Tax will be registered in SIGTAS.
 E-Tax allows tax payers to file electronically, to see
and print their declaration on line.

The Taxpayers information is secured and
confidential/Unique username and password/

Build trust ship b/n MoR and Taxpayers

Components Of E-tax

E-tax consists of:


 e-filing,
e-payment,
e-clearance and
e-refund
Currently MoR implemented e-filing and e-
payment.
E-filing means declaring taxes from their premises
E-payment conducting payments of tax
electronically without physically presented to tax
centre

REQUIREMENTS TO E-FILE

 For the declaration you used the different electronic


equipment's such as:
Smart Phones,
Tablet,
Laptop, or
Desk top
with in internet and then open browser like:
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Netscape and other updated browser

Steps to Login to E-file

 A taxpayer can use the e-filing web portal to


declare the taxes with Ministry of Revenue
Use the IP Address: https://etax.mor.gov.et
Click on E-tax service, the following template
arises:

Usernames and passwords are both case sensitive

 The SSL VPN Connects the taxpayers access to MoR


server.
 Etax Login Page :
 The login page is used by both tax officers and
taxpayers to enter eTax;
 Forgotten passwords must be retrieved by
contacting the tax centre;
 Usernames and passwords are both case sensitive;
 Validation will occur if either or both
username/password are entered incorrectly;
 There is no limit for the user to incorrectly login
(no lock will occur)

All tax accounts registered for the taxpayer


in SIGTAS will display in the Tax
Declarations page in eTax
Each tax account is separated by an
expandable button
Every tax period configured in SIGTAS for
each tax type will display in its
corresponding tax account section
5 tax periods will be visible at a time for
each tax account
Scrolling through all tax periods is
possible for each tax account

 If tax type requires supporting documents, you can add one
by one, upload in a csv format, or import the previous
tax period and edit on it during the filing process.
 5 actions can be displayed for each tax declaration period:
 File Now: can be filed online
 In Progress: filing began but not completed
 Filed: declaration has been submitted to Tax Centre,
submission and document numbers are available,
once assessed in SIGTAS, assessment number will
also be available
 Suspended: Account Suspended, no need to file

 To File Contact Tax Centre: period to file online has

not reached

 If a declaration is submitted in eTax, then a Submission
number and a Document number is created and
displayed beside the filed tax declaration
 The Submission number is a unique number
generated by eTax
 The Document number is the same unique number for
a remittance generated by SIGTAS
 Declarations that have been filed over eTax will have
the document status: E-Filed in SIGTAS (list can be
printed through DF136RS – Print List of Documents

that need to be completed:
