Problem 1: The First problem facing oysters is the
population of oysters is decreasing. This has
many effects on the Chesapeake Bay. One effect
Harvested is it takes longer to filter the whole bay which
means in some areas animals won’t be able to
oysters see. Another effect is other animal populations
will decrease because of the loss of oyster shells.
Another problem facing oysters is the predators (Blue Crabs, anemones, flat
Problem 2: worms, mud crabs etc.). There are a lot of effects on oysters because of
predators. One effect is, when oysters are eaten it’s like harvesting oysters,
Predators new oysters can’t be born because the more mama oysters eaten the less spat
can’t be born. Another reason is animals will lose homes, food, sight.
2 Ways We Can 1. Put Taylor floats in places that meet these qualities: at least 2
meters deep, and 5ppt salinity.
Help Oysters 2. Create Oyster reefs (concreate or other hard material dome) for
oysters to attach to.
