CALCIUM

The presentation by C. Rohith discusses calcium, a reactive alkaline earth metal with the symbol Ca and atomic number 20, first isolated by Sir Humphry Davy in 1808. It is essential for human health, comprising about 1.4% of body mass, and plays a crucial role in forming bones and teeth, muscle movement, and nerve messaging. The document also highlights the importance of consuming calcium in appropriate amounts to avoid health risks, such as kidney stones.

CALCIUM

_______________
Power point presentation of c. Rohith from class VII-”h”

C.ROHITH

Today we will be seeing about CALCIUM (my roll no):

LETS
STARTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT is CALCIUM ?

What is Calcium? Calcium

Calcium is a chemical element; it has symbol Ca

and

atomic number 20. As an alkaline earth metal,

calcium is

a reactive metal that forms a dark oxide-nitride

layer

when exposed to air. It has an atomic weight of

40.078 .
CALCIUM
Who found calcium ?

It was first isolated in 1808 in

England when Sir Humphry
Davy electrolyzed a mixture of
Atomi lime and mercuric oxide. Today
c no: we obtain calcium through the
20 electrolysis of a fused salt such
as calcium chloride. Once
exposed to air, elemental
calcium rapidly forms a grey-
white oxide and nitride
coating. Sir . Humphry
Davy
Atomic
weight:
4.078
About Calcium :

Calcium was discovered in 1808 by

British chemist Sir Humphry Davy

Calcium is the fifth most abundant

element in the Earth's crust, but it's
never found in nature in its pure
form because it reacts with water
and oxygen to form compounds.

Calcium is an important element in the

human body, making up about 1.4% of
body mass. It's a component of
hydroxyapatite, which makes bones and
teeth hard. Calcium is also found in
antacids, toothpaste, and fertilizer
Facts about Calcium !!!!!!!

* Calcium is also abundant on the Moon

.

* Help form bones and teeth.

FACTS

* Help maintain body strength.

* Assist in the movement of muscles.

* Assist with nerve messaging between the brain and

body
systems

* Calcium intake that exceeds nutritional

recommendations can increase the risk of kidney
stones. Most kidney stones are made of calcium oxalate
or calcium phosphate.
Other facts of Calcium

Calcium is a silvery-white metallic solid

with a cubic crystalline structure. It's
relatively soft, malleable, and ductile. Its
melting point is 842°C and its boiling
point is 1484°C.

Calcium is never found on its own in

nature, but mixes with other things to
form compounds.
SO always we should need to take calcium in a
right amount

There is benefits if consume it in correct amount, or there

are disadvantages
