POWER
In 1959, two social psychologists named French and Raven came up with a model to
explain where power comes from. They said that there are five main types of power.
These types of power fall into two categories:

manipulation, but rather about
encouraging people to see your point
of view, adopt a new idea, or move
toward a common goal.

As a leader, you’ll need to use
your power once in a while to steer
the ship. But when you use
influence to lead, you’ll slowly
build deeper trust and loyalty with
your team.
When you lose a position of power,
you lose the power that came with
it, but not the influence you
generated.

Theory helps us become more effective
in leading, communicating, and
creating positive change. Whether
through position, expertise, or
relationships, the way we use power
and influence can inspire action, build
trust, and drive success. By
recognizing our own style and learning
to adapt to others, we can become
more thoughtful and impactful in
everything we do.
