"The CVCC pattern means a word

“What do you notice when you
say the word tiger? Can you clap
its syllables?”
Read the words.
How many syllables do these
words have?
Today, we are going to explore two
exciting types of words: Vowel-
Consonant-Vowel (VCV) words and
Vowel-Consonant-Consonant-Vowel
(VCCV) words.
First, let’s understand what we mean
by vowels and consonants. Can
anyone tell me what vowels are?
That’s right! The vowels are A, E, I, O,
and U. Now, the letters that are not
vowels are called consonants.
VCV Words are made up of one
vowel, followed by a consonant, and
then another vowel.
For example, the word “hero” has the
first vowel “e,” then the consonant “r,”
and ends with another vowel “o.”
Examples:
Read the following VCV words.
” Can you think of some more VCV
words?
VCCV Words have a vowel, then
one or more consonants, followed by
another vowel. A good example is the
word “cactus.” It starts with the vowel
“a,” followed by two consonants “c”
and “t,” and ends with “u.”
Directions: Identify the pattern of each word as
VCV or VCCV.
