 The Warehouse management


application is fully integrated into the
sap R/3 system. Transactions that are
initiated in other SAP components
result in corresponding tasks in WM
which activate actual physical
transfers within the warehouse.
Eg: If a good receipt is posted in the Inventory Management
system ,the stock level is increased in the WM system .Because of
the good receipt posting ,an action is started in the WM system
that notifies the user that material must be stored in the
warehouse

Why Warehouse Management
While Inventory Management ,as part of
Materials Management ,can only provide
information on the total quantity of material
in stock ,Warehouse stock enables a precise
specification of the exact location of a
particular quantity of material and informs
you whether this quantity is currently in a
storage bin

represent the physical warehouse complex.

Storage Type :
A physical or logical subdivision of a warehouse
complex that is characterized by its warehouse
technique
Features
A storage type does not have an address but
short description .
It is possible to maintain storage type specific
material data.
Strategies for put away and picking are
maintained at storage type level

Storage section is an organisational
subdivision of a storage type that groups
together storage bins with similar features
for the purpose of putting away stock.
 Storage bin is the smallest addressable unit
of space in a warehouse .
Interim Storage Type

receipt and issues posted in IM are
automatically updated in WM in these
