INSTRUMENTS

USED IN SURGERY
Cutting and Dissecting Instruments
1. Scalpel (Bard-Parker Handle with Blades No. 10, 11, 15)

• Used for making skin and tissue incisions.


2. Mayo Scissors
• Used for cutting thick tissues like fascia and muscles.

3. Metzenbaum Scissors
• Used for fine dissection of delicate tissues.
Grasping and Holding Instruments

1.Tissue Forceps (Adson, De Bakey, Toothed & Non-Toothed)


– Used for holding and manipulating tissues.
2. Allis Tissue Forceps
– Used for grasping soft tissues securely.
3. Babcock Forceps
– Used for handling delicate tissues like intestines and fallopian
tubes.

4. Kocher Forceps
– Used for grasping tough tissues with
a firm grip.
Hemostatic Instruments (Clamps)
