DRUG DISPLAY
• It is the special presentation of the store’s product used to attract and
entice the buying public
• Creating an environment which makes customers want to buy your
particular pharmaceutical product
• Activity promoting the sale of goods at retail
IMPORTANCE
• A large percent of purchase decision are not finalized before entry in to
the pharmacy
• Merchandising influences the consumer’s purchase decision were the
final decision is being made
The D&C rules 1945 contains provisions for classification of
drugs as schedules and there are guidelines for
storage ,sale, display and prescription requirements for each
schedule
• Sufficient number of racks should be provided for storage of drugs and
supplies.
• Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers should be provided at strategic
points along with fire buckets to fight sudden fires due to stored drugs
and chemical.
• Materials which are stocked are listed as under:
• Capsules, tablets, liquid dosage form and injections
• Biological antibiotics are stored properly in refrigerator.
• Narcotic and psychotropic substances are stored under lock & key.
• POISONS are stored in separate closed rack, labelled as ”POISON”.
• Alcohol and alcohol containing preparations. (vi) Large bulk items on
bottom.
• Vaccines and other thermolabile drugs are required to be stored at cold
store 2- 10 0 C.
• Antibiotics, vitamins liver preparations etc should be stored at cool
temp (15- 200 C).
• To avoid pilferage costly drugs and prescribed schedule X drugs
should be stored separately under lock and key.

displayed in parallel lines. are arranged in irregular shaped

SUPER DRUG STORE MODEL
• Super Drug Store are types of drug stores have a huge floor area
ranging from 5000 to 10000 with a square design.
• The customer have access to almost all the area in the drug store and
can inspect, handle and select article themselves.
• The design is on self service pattern except for the prescription
department where self service is not possible.
• Super drug store pharmacy design are most common in the western
world, these pharmacies will provide opportunity for purchase of
purchase of both prescription and other general health care items
cosmetics, baby care, eye care and other gift items
• The ambience and design of the pharmacy are made in such a way to
attract more customers with increased purchasing temptation
PHARMACY WITH PHARMACEUTICAL CARE SERVICE
DESIGN :

• Pharmaceutical care is a responsible provision of drug therapy to


achieve the desired therapeutics goals.
• Pharmacies with pharmaceutical care services will have separate
patient care area for offering counseling and health screening services
along with area for display of medicines and other health care items
supported with sales man services
• The wrapping and billing counter should be at the entrance.
