TYPES OF MULTIMEDIA
LINEAR – presents information and
active content without any navigation
control for the viewer (sit and watch,
automatically play)
NONLINEAR – presents information
requiring user interactivity to control
progress (as used with a computer game,
self-paced computer training)
Called as hypermedia context where user
controls the delivery of elements

ONLINE – used in applications available
with internet connectivity
Offline – application presented even without
internet
HYBRID – combines features of online and
offline applications
INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA- means to
interact with computer parts and text
entry allowing user to make decisions
as to what takes place next

INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA- involves
a combination of sound, pictures,
animations and video with integrated
activity by which thru pointing and
clicking can access online information
Ex- Rich Media –can be accessed both online & offline

Downloadable –internet downloads and view it with
media player
Embedded- does not need to be downloaded, only
accessed online
