Technical Details
Aperiodic CSI trigger changed per PR252931 and PR157313
• Due to the bug in some UEs with QC chipset there was a request to introduce PR157313
as a workaround to cope with this bug reasoning that it will be faster introduced from the
network side than updating all affected UE firmwares.
• PR252931: previous pronto PR157313 solution extended to all the cases except 3CC with
eICIC in the small cell.

Technical Details
Maximum 12 SCell candidates supported for FDD-TDD per PR228805
• FDD-TDD DL CA (FDD PCell) follows
FDD-FDD, that means the maximum 12
SCells shall be supported (whereas TDD-
TDD only support 5).
• At most 3 frequency layers and 6 SCell
candidates can be located in TDD eNB,
the number restriction of carriers and
SCell candidates due to the sRIO
bandwidth (one sRIO connection
supported).
• The limitation might be removed by
Airscale based FDD-TDD DL CA (i.e.
LTE2735)

Interdependencies
LTE2337 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC (2F+T)
LTE2623 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 4CC (2F+2T)

LTE1089 DL Carrier Aggregation

prerequisites LTE1332 DL Carrier Aggregation 40 MHz
LTE1562 Carrier Aggregation for multi-carrier eNBs
LTE1803 DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC 40 MHz
LTE1804 DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC 60 MHz
LTE1558 TDD DL Carrier Aggregation
LTE1830 TDD DL Carrier Aggregation enhancements
LTE1838 TDD Inter-band DL CA 40 MHz
LTE1836 TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC 60 MHz
LTE2180 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 2CC (F+T)
LTE2316 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC (F+2T)
LTE2531 DL Carrier Aggregation 4CC
LTE2337 and LTE2623 require that on both inter-connected eNBs,
Carrier Aggregation functionality is activated. As all mentioned
features in both FDD and TDD are enabled with the same
activation flag, they can be treated as prerequisites for LTE2337
and LTE2623.

Interdependencies
LTE2337 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC (2F+T)
LTE2623 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 4CC (2F+2T)

LTE2305 Inter-eNB CA for two Macro eNBs

prerequisites LTE2007 Inter-eNB Carrier Aggregation
LTE2244 Inter-eNB TDD Carrier Aggregation
Due to the fact that FDD and TDD LTE must be hosted by separate System
Modules, configuration of FDD-TDD Carrier Aggregation requires cooperation
of two eNBs introduced by above features
LTE1710 Sync Hub Direct Forward:
LTE1710 is a prerequisite for Inter-eNB CA functionality as Carrier
Aggregation has certain synchronization requirements among paired cells.
To keep all the cells involved in the inter-eNB CA synchronized, both eNBs
have to be connected with sync cable where TDD eNB acts as Sync Hub
Master (connected to synchronization source *) while the FDD one as Sync
Hub Slave.
*
NOTE: Sync Hub Master eNB can use any synchronization source: GNSS, ToP, SyncE, 2.048 MHz, etc.

Interdependencies
LTE2337 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC (2F+T)
LTE2623 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 4CC (2F+2T)

LTE2270 FDD+TDD inter-eNB CA basic BTS configurations

prerequisites LTE2270 provides the eNB configurations applicable for FDD-TDD inter-eNB
DL Carrier Aggregation scenarios. Due to the fact that only those certain
configurations will be supported by FDD-TDD DL CA features, LTE2270 can
be treated as prerequisite.

CRL15013 Inter eNB FDD-TDD carrier aggregation for 3 eNBs

This CR is to extend inter eNB FDD-TDD carrier aggregation (LTE2007,
LTE2270/ LTE2316) for 3 eNBs. One eNB cluster with 3 eNBs configuration is
supported with 2 FDD eNB (FSMF) and 1 TDD eNB (FSMF). This CR could
benefit to customer for more flexible user configuration.

LTE2006 Flexible SCell selection

LTE2006 Flexible SCell Selection is prerequisite for legacy LTE2316 FDD-TDD
DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC (F+2T) (according to the LTERLCR-9323) and
thus also for LTE2337 and LTE2623

LTE2337 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 3CC (2F+T)
LTE2623 FDD-TDD DL Carrier Aggregation 4CC (2F+2T)

LTE2630 Uplink Control Information only transmission

limitations LTE2623 FDD-TDD DL CA 4CC (as well as LTE2531 DL CA 4CC) requires
LTE2630 to be enabled to allow for aperiodic UCI reporting (using special UCI
only grants).

LTE493 TM7 based Beamforming (Single Stream BF)

LTE541 TM8 based Beamforming (Dual Stream BF)
Both TM7 and TM8 modes can be configured in TDD SCcell(s), however CA
UEs served by the FDD PCell will be configured with fixed TM3 in such SCells
due to lack of channel reciprocity required for proper beamforming weights
calculation
LTE2275 PCell swap
LTE2275 PCell swap and LTE2337/LTE2623 can be enabled together,
however, due to the fact that TDD cells cannot play PCell role in FDD-TDD
Carrier Aggregation, only FDD SCell(s) in FDD-TDD CA configurations with 2
FDD carriers involved will be candidates for PCell swap (i.e. TDD SCells will
not be treated as PCell swap candidates)

limitations UE which is configured with TTI bundling could not be configured with the
Secondary Cells – but features as such could run in BTS in parallel
LTE1406 Extended VoLTE talk time
LTE1406 triggers may impact de-configuration of SCells. Decision on Scell
de-configuration/maintaining is done during QCI1 bearer
setup/establishment depending on measured UE throughput – whether it is
above or below the eVTT threshold. If UE throughput is above the eVTT
threshold, SCells will be maintained but eVTT dedicated BLER for QCI1 will
not be applied. If UE throughput is below the eVTT threshold, SCell(s) will be
released and dedicated BLER for QCI1 bearer will be applied.
LTE1130 Dynamic PUCCH allocation
Support of Dynamic PUCCH allocation in 4CC scenarios is not supported,
meaning that this feature cannot work together with LTE2623 FDD-TDD DL

extensions LTE1541 Advanced SCell measurement handling
LTE2276 Measurement based SCell selection
All above features can be used together with LTE2337/LTE2623 to improve
SCell handling and mobility, especially in mixed FDD-TDD CA scenarios
where TDD SCell’s coverage is expected to be smaller than FDD PCell’s
coverage
LTE2582 DL 4x4 MIMO with Carrier Aggregation
LTE2479 256QAM in downlink
LTE3073 256QAM extensions
All above features can be used together with LTE2337/LTE2623 to further
increase achievable peak DL user throughput
NOTE: In terms of LTE2337/2623, four layer MIMO is supported only by FDD
cells – TDD SCells involved in FDD-TDD DL CA cannot be configured with four
layer MIMO

extensions The eNB considers mapped bands when checking whether the UE supports
particular band combination for Carrier Aggregation. Mapped EARFCN is
used in communication to the UE if native EARFCN is not supported directly
by the UE.
LTE1113 eICIC macro
FDD-TDD DL CA can be activated simultaneously with eICIC at the macro
eNBs. CA UEs are simply not scheduled in the TTIs which are used for Almost
Blank Subframes (ABS) transmission.
LTE42 DRX in RRC Connected mode
LTE473 Extended DRX
