REAL-TIME SIGN
LANGUAGE RECOGNITION
SYSTEM
A deep learning-based
system to translate hand
gestures into text/speech
for real-time
communication.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
01 Many people with speech and hearing impairments rely on sign
language to communicate.
02 However, most of the general population does not
understand sign language.
03
This creates a communication barrier in daily
life – at work, public places, schools, etc.
04 A solution is needed to translate sign
language in real-time to bridge this gap.
PROPOSED
SOLUTION
• Design a system that detects and classifies hand gestures using a
webcam.
• Use computer vision and deep learning to recognize sign language
symbols.
• Display the recognized gesture as text on screen.
• Optionally convert the text into speech using text-to-speech librarie

CONCLUSION
• Real-time sign language recognition is a step toward inclusive
technology.
• Helps reduce dependency on interpreters.
• Enhances accessibility and independence for hearing-impaired
users.
• Future scope: Sentence recognition, gesture tracking,
multilingual sign support.
