3 Main Types of
Customer Requirements
1. MUST-HAVES REQUIREMENTS (BASIC
NEEDS)
These are the basic expectations of a customer.
If they are missing, the customer will be very
dissatisfied — but if they are present, the
customer might not even notice or appreciate
ENTREPRENEURSHI
P
Can you give me an example
of No. 1 , Must-Have
Requirement
of a customer?
ENTREPRENEURSHI
P
1.MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENT EXAMPLE:
The fried chicken must be cooked properly
and safe to eat.
🟢 Customers expect this automatically.
❌ If it's raw or spoiled = very disappointed.
😐 If it's cooked right = "normal", no extra
praise.
ENTREPRENEURSHI
P
Do you have any idea about
No. 2 - Satisfier Requirements
of a customer?
ENTREPRENEURSHI

3 Main Types of
Customer Requirements
2. SATISFIER REQUIREMENTS - (PERFORMANCE
NEEDS)
These are the features or services where more
is better. The better you perform in these
areas, the more satisfied the customer

No. 2, Satisfier Requirement

2. SATISFIER REQUIREMENT EXAMPLE:
Example: Service – Pizza Delivery
"The pizza should be delivered within 30
minutes."
🟢 If the pizza arrives in 20–25 minutes →
the customer is very satisfied.

customer is okay or neutral.
❌ If it arrives after 45 minutes or more →
the customer is dissatisfied.

3 Main Types of
Customer Requirements
3. DELIGHTER REQUIREMENTS - (EXCITEMENT NEEDS)
These are the unexpected surprises that
delight the customer. If they’re not present,
the customer won’t be disappointed — but if
they are, it creates a memorable and positive

Can you share an example of
No. 3, Delighter Requirement
of a customer ?
ENTREPRENEURSHI
P
3. DELIGHTER EXAMPLE:
Example: Gadget – Smartphone
"The phone comes with a free pair of wireless earbuds
and a premium phone case."
🟢 If the customer opens the box and finds these
unexpected freebies → the customer is delighted and
highly impressed.
😐 If the phone comes without them (as expected) →
the customer is not disappointed.
❗ This is a delighter because it’s not expected, but it
creates excitement and surprise when present —
