ETERNAL LIFE (NEVER
ENDING LIFE)
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
ETERNAL LIFE (NEVER ENDING LIFE)
● Eternity is the “Kingdom of Heaven”, the “Age to Come”. The age of the
ages
● This will be the time of Eternal Kingdom with God’s only begotten Son
Jesus Christ being subject to Him
● “When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to
him who put everything under him, so that GOD MAY BE ALL IN
ALL” ( I Cor 15:28).
Blessing of Salvation
● Blessing of Salvation: ETERNAL LIFE
● Children of God, of all the ages – from the first to the last one on earth,
have a definite promise of life everlasting in the glorious presence of the
LORD God
● We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is
greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has
given about his Son.I write these things to you who believe
in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that
you have eternal life. (1 John 5:9,11)
Consequences of Rebelliousness
● Those who rebel against God and who
refuse His offer of grace through His Son
Jesus Christ, too will live for eternity but
separated from His presence
● Condemned state of torment in the Lake of
Fire
● Ignorance is not an excuse
● The righteous Lord gives all opportunities
for all men to know Him and come to Him
on His terms
Kingdom of Heaven
● Eternal Life = Kingdom of Heaven
● New birth in the Gospel according to John
● But store up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where moths
and vermin do not destroy, and
where thieves do not break in and
steal (Matthew 6:20)
● God loved the world that sent His Son to die on the
cross to give eternal life to those who trust in Him
● He does not want anyone to perish in sin and be
separated from His presence and be condemned for
eternity in torment (Jn 3:16; Mt 25:46; Jn3:16, 36;
4:14; 5:24; 6:68;10:28; 17:3; Rom 6:23b).
● Eternal life is God’s free gift to those who forsake everything and follow
Jesus. It is both a present possession and a future reality. Believers have
already tasted the powers of the Age to Come .
● who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and
the powers of the coming age (Heb 6:5)
● Glorification in Eternal Life is the culmination of salvation (2 Cor4:17; Eph
1:13-14; Tit 2:11-14). This refers to salvation as the final blessed and
abiding state of the redeemed (Heb 9:12).
● It is renewal or restoration (Ps103:5; 119:25-40, 149-156; Isa 40:31; Tit 3:5)
– a permanent state of being.
● Salvation is also Eternal Life of rest from life’s labours and frustrations
(Ex 33:14; Dt 3:20; 12:10; Jos 1:13; 21:44; 22:4; 23:1; Psa 116:7; Isa28:12;
Mt 11:28; Heb 4:1-11). Christ offers Rest to believers in this life and in the
Eternal Life.
Eternal Rewards
● His faithful servants are promised with eternal
rewards of glory (Dan 12:13; Mt 25:23; 2 Cor
5:10; 2 Tim 4:8: Rev 22:12)
● Believed in Jesus Christ but have not fulfilled His
commission to them but rather built their own
ministries for their own profit or personal glory
● Lose the rewards but by the mercy of God be saved
(1 Cor 3:10-15)
● Rewards will not be based on quantity but based on
quality, Reward is promised to those whose service
is of enduring quality
● Loss in view here is that of rewards, not of
salvation of one’s soul. The nature of the reward is
not specified.
Heavenly Dwelling Place for Believers
Jesus mentioned the following as the dwelling place for eternity for Believers:
● Some will see the kingdom of God Jn 3:3
● Some will enter the kingdom of God Jn 3:5
● Some will be least in the kingdom of God Mt 5:19
● Some will be great in the kingdom of God Mt 5:19
● Some will be the greatest in the kingdom of God Mt 18:4
Spiritual Body - Permanent
● We will have a glorious new spiritual
body in Heaven
● Now we know that if the earthly tent (i.e.
our physical body) that we live in is
destroyed, we have a building from God,
an eternal house built in Heaven, not
built by hands” (2 Cor 5:1-10)
● It will not be subject to corruption,
imperishable and immortal. It will be
different in nature. (1 Cor 15:35-55).
New Order
● When God creates New Earth and New Heavens, there is no Tears, Death,
Mourning, Crying and Pain.
● The Original Order of things as God designed will be restored. New human
beings will not be created rather we will be new creation – made righteous,
justified and glorified – complete – perfected in Jesus Christ.
● No physical limitations in our bodies. There will be no marriage, no human
relationship as it is in the world today, rather we will be like Angels
● Our knowledge of God will be perfect. There will be no day or night in
eternal life.
● There will be no decay or waste in the new order of nature.
● Eternal life in Heaven will have responsibilities to fulfil and necessary
abilities in eternity as Jesus taught through the parables of Maidens and
Talents referring to faithful and unfaithful servants (Mt 25; Luke 16).
New Earth, New Heavens, New Jerusalem
& Zion
New Earth, New Heavens, New Jerusalem
& Zion
● Different places with permission to enter given to different sets of believers based on their
life on earth in different levels of obedience / holiness.
● Certain denominations consider themselves exclusively as Bride of Christ and their Spiritual
Leaders who have not married and kept themselves pure as the 1,44,000 chosen ones and so
on.
● All are one and in the single Family of God in the city of New Jerusalem suspended or
hovering over the New Earth. Here God and His children of Old and New Covenants will be
ONE people together in His presence (Gal 3:28-29; Eph 2:11-22). The first fruits who enter
this will be the 1,44,000 Jews from all the tribes of Israel excluding that of Dan and Ephraim.
● New Jerusalem is either seen as a cubic city of huge proportions, with Zion as a restricted
place of entry only for the 1,44,000 to enter into the very presence of God
● A lush land in a range of hills with Zion set on top over all the hills with unrestricted entry for
all the children of God in His Family. Heb, 12:22-24 The Law will go out from Zion. Is 2:3.
Heaven is where God is
● Believers in God do not GO to Heaven.
● Heaven is where God is and the Book of
Revelation declares that God will be
coming down to New Jerusalem , and be
amongst the Believers permanently (Rev
Chap 21-22).
● Heaven is where God and his people live
together forever. Rev 21:3-5; Eph 4:9-11.
Hell
● Unlike many mistake this to be a place of
permanency, scriptures declare this to be a
temporary place of torment (Rev 20:14).
● This is also referred to as a part of Hades
where temporarily unbelievers and rebellious
people are confined after death in a state of
torment (Mt 5:22; Lk 16:23).
● God prepared this place of temporary torment
only for the fallen angels (2 Pet 2:4). But
those who rejected God and rebelled against
Him were by their own choice end up here.
Lake of Fire
● Permanent place of torment with burning sulphur and
brimstone, where Satan, Anti Christ, False Prophet, the fallen
angels and all those whose names are not found written in the
Book of Life will be confined to (Rev 19:20; 20:11-15).
● “Cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the
sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters
and all liars- their place will be in the fiery lake of burning
sulphur” (Rev 21:8).
● “But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into
the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of
teeth” (Mt 8:12).
● Jesus refers to those to whom the grace of God was offered by
God through His Son - Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ- the
redeemer of Israel), but rejected the offer but rather crucified
Him on the cross.
Lake of Fire (Cont’d…)
● This Lake of Fire is referred to as the Second Death (Rev 20:14) meaning
eternal separation from God.
● One aspect of this separation will be that those in Heaven will NOT see
those in this Lake of Fire
● Those in the Lake of Fire will see those in glory and curse themselves
forever for what they lost due to their unbelief and disobedience.
● This in itself will be a great punishment.
Implications for Today’s Life
● What difference does it make if one has a healthy,
balanced and biblical view of Eternal Age to come? It
inspires Hope (Col 1:15) and moral purity (1 Jn 3:3).
● Faithfulness is encouraged by the knowledge that eternal
rewards are waiting and by the reminder that the future
is secured for us Believers by sheer grace (1 Cor 15:58).
● The fact that the end includes judgment and separation
between the faithful and the unbelieving demands
personal preparedness (Mt25:1-13).
● The Church as a Bride to be presented to her
Bridegroom, a body to become full-grown, and a
building to be made a holy temple in which God resides,
moves towards its blessed hope (Rev 19:7-9).
