ABSTRACT
An abstract is usually not included because the poster itself is already very short. If the
organizers require an abstract, make a short sentence about the problem and its importance.
PAPER
Make another sentence about the Materials and Methods or omit it altogether, then give the
important results. Make the abstract as short as possible.
INTRODUCTION
Summarize briefly the information given in the Introduction part of your technical paper in just
enough words to give the reader a bird’s eye view of the problem and its importance. You may
not state the objective if this can be deduced from your results.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The purpose of the Materials and Methods is to give an idea of the process, route or steps done
to arrive at the conclusion. Hence, confine it to the general steps. Omit details. A flow diagram
with pictures will be more effective, if it is feasible.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Concentrate on this part. Use the abstract of your technical paper to choose which findings you
will present. Select the important results and present it in a smooth and organized manner.
CONCLUSIONS AND
Sum up the conclusion in one sentence, if possible. You do not have to state it if it is found
already in the title. If you have a recommendation, mention it. If a technology was
RECOMMENDATIONS
developed, state its use.
OTHER PARTS OF A POSTER PAPER

references (called Literature Cited in some journals) and you cannot include all of them.
PRINTING A POSTER PAPER
Before having your poster printed, have your peers criticize your work. Have them spell
check and proofread it too.
an example of a good poster paper for an international conference is shown in the
next page. The version in the succeeding page has been made more concise; the
most significant finding highlighted, and the recommendations emphasized. Take
note also that phrase “acceptable results” was deleted because acceptability was
not included in the results. The most significant finding still has to be validated
