William James Reddin Reddins 3 Dimensions: Task Orientation: Relationship Orientation Effectiveness

Task Orientation: the extent to which a manager directs his (or her) subordinates efforts towards goal attainment. Relationship Orientation: the extent to which a manager has personal job relationships. Effectiveness: the extent to which a manager achieves the output requirements of his or her position.

LESS EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP STYLE: MISSIONARY - An supportive approach - Emphasizes congeniality and positive climate - Supportive Behaviour - May avoid or smooth over conflict - Find difficulty denying request

MORE EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP STYLE: DEVELOPER - Objective counterpart of the missionary style - Employment contribution is recognized - Approach to subordinates is collegial - Feel pride in discovering and promoting talent.
