It has been a long and interesting journey. I grew up as one of three children in a middle class family in Brazil. My father was an executive who worked for an American company with subsidiaries in Latin America/Europe and Far East. I was educated in Catholic schools and it was there where I encountered the teachers whose caring, enthusiasm, and love of children set my life on the path it has taken. A teacher’s life is measured by the students she inspires. I still remember Mrs. Gladys, a fourth grade teacher who had the ability to teach the subject in a playful way that overcame my fear of numbers.
