Michael Chavira worked to protect the country's U.S. Army soldiers through work at Booz Allen Hamilton as a systems engineer. Here, Chavira learned how important it is to pay attention to the people in complex systems. Often, the military is making big purchases and building complex systems, but because they don't focus on the end user, these systems don't work as well or as efficiently as they could. When Chavira found out about this, he began to think about starting a business and how he would run it differently if he could. "This was the time in my life when Tom Stauber and I talked about starting a business," Chavira said.
