I also held the position of Student Operations Officer (SOO), which entailed leading our employees by training them, providing them with delivery materials, and communicating between them and senior management. Leadership/Experience Bitcamp, University of Maryland — Participant April 2016 I participated in Bitcamp, a yearly hackathon at the University of Maryland in which participants form teams, develop a project idea, and have 36 hours to code up their project. My team and I set our goal on learning more about web development. We worked on developing a web pages in a php framework, in which a user could login and create and save notes. Business Club, Wyoming Seminary — Leader SEPTEMBER 2013 - May 2015 Business Club worked towards teaching the techniques behind entrepreneurship. We would bring in guest speakers with entrepreneurial experience to share their experiences when starting up their companies. IT Club, Wyoming Seminary — Member SEPTEMBER 2014 - MAY 2015 IT Club worked towards understanding the vast development of technology in our era, as well as mastering our programming skills with Java. Speech and Debate, Wyoming Seminary— Leader SEPTEMBER 2013 - MAY 2015 Speech and Debate worked towards developing better public speaking skills through the construction of a good argument as well as the act of physically presenting one’s argument. Community Service Hospital Volunteer —Center for Vascular Medicine (Silver Springs, MD) I volunteered to help during patient check ups and minor procedures. I helped set up and clean the check up and procedure rooms, as well as did some filing work on the computer. Math Tutor —Wyoming Seminary I was a math tutor for algebra 2 and Calculus 1 in high school. I helped students who struggled to grasp the concepts of the current lessons we were working on. Trainings & Certifications Agile Workflow Training & Certification - Dun & Bradstreet: Trained and Certified by Dun & Bradstreet in Agile team workflow. Agile is a set of principles and guidelines that describe a team’s workflow pattern that keeps the team constantly working towards its goal through constant communication and organization of tasks. The period from start date to due date is broken down into smaller time periods called “sprints,” in which a subset of those tasks are completed.
- 3. Hobbies and Interests Weight Lifting Weight lifting has been a part of my daily routine for 4 years now. It is an essential part of my life style that I continuously work at to achieve a goal, and then set an even higher goal and work to achieve that goal as well. I enjoy the feeling of walking into the gym each day and thinking, “there is always progress that can be made here.” Coding I enjoy coding, whether it is for a project I am working on for school, or on my free time. I am a great logical thinker, and coding is a way for me to put that skill to use. When it comes to writing a program to solve the most simple of tasks or the most difficult of them, I enjoy piecing together the steps one by one, putting them together in code, debugging my program, and, the best part, watching it successfully run after hours of hard work. Music Production I have a great passion for music. I listen to music every day, whether it is while I am biking to class, doing homework, in the gym, or to simply relax. I developed a great appreciation for the positive impact music has on me and the way I feel, which lead to me begin making my own music with a program called FL Studio. Instead of traditional music making with instruments, I make music with this program on the computer, in which I can create any sound I want by tuning my computerized instruments. Most of my music fits into a genre known as Trap, which is a name given to a more modern and specific type of Hip-Hop beats.
