My dear Friend

The white pillow first caught my attention when I was walking in a shopping
mall in Malaysia a few years ago. I could not help myself but to pick it up
carefully, examining the lavish design. My fingers just mindlessly started
tracing itself along the cool white edges and brushing the smooth polished
round backs of the curved-in waves along its perimeter. Besides the
occasional dull points protruding outward along the edges, that pillow was

simply perfect for me. I finally bought it.

That pillow is something that I have treasured ever since I found it.
Something, which I use to hug everyday the moment I arrived home from
University. I felt a little guilty calling this thing a 'thing'. Its more like a friend
to me. This friend of mine wait for me everyday and watch television with me,
we listen to music together and jump up and down on bed together. It also
makes sure that I sleep soundly every night. It always smells nice and is
always soft and huggable. When the weather is cold I used to snuggle up to it.
Nowadays I still greatly appreciate its company. Unlike me, it has not
changed much over the years.

My pillow is of perfect size, tailored exactly how I needed. It is made of soft
cotton fabrics. It feels so soft, so worm, so fluffy when I hug it. When I touch it
gently, the pillow feels like the skin of a baby and when I look at it, this
reminds me of clouds. When I hugged it, it smells so nice, which reminds me
of my shower gel, which has the scent of strawberry. As soon as I put my head
on it, i feel like falling in the arms of Morpheus. That pillow, was as if made
just for me. It is so comfortable that my head fit over it perfectly, it helps me
to get a good sleep and have sweet dreams.

My eyes squint with delight and I can feel the softness of the pillow on my
face, when I put my head on my friend. I am reminded that I am one who lives
on the edges of life, or so I have been told. I choose to live on the edge to get
more fulfillments out of life. Anything that puts me so close to death that I
could touch it, but still hang on to a thread of life to pull yourself back up with,
gives me the adrenaline rush that makes all the danger in the world entirely
worth it. I never seem to sleep anywhere without my Pillow.

My Pillow is very important to me in my everyday life and even for my bed. I
can’t imagine my life without it. It does bring me joys and full of happiness.
The reason I call it a friend is because I see it: before I go to sleep, before a
wake up: in my dream and when I wake up. Its texture makes me feel like I am
in my Mather’s arms.
