Dr. Alexandre Passant gave a lightning talk at SemTech2011 in San Francisco on June 6th 2011 about Seevl, a system he created that uses semantic web technologies to provide unique ways of exploring music and connections between artists. Seevl interlinks music data using RDF, ontologies like FOAF and SKOS, stores the data in a graph database, and generates recommendations and search results through SPARQL queries. The system aims to help users find new artists, understand relationships between bands, and explore their cultural and musical universe by going beyond just sounds.
