- 2. Topic : MLA Source Citations Description : This day long lesson will introduce to source citations and students will learn how to cite books, magazines, journals, newspapers, and websites using the Modern Language Association format as a bibliographical citation.
- 3. Students will be able to Cite books with single authors, multiple authors, translators, editors, and Anthologies in bibliographical format. Students will be able To cite magazines, newspapers, and Journals in bibliographical formats. Students will be able to cite websites. Students will be able to understand the importance of source citation in relation to creating a research paper. Objectives
- 4. Content What are the different source citations What is the importance of source citation? What is MLA and what are source citations?
- 5. Procedures Attendance Anticipatory Set: How do you know if someone is telling the truth? Explain what MLA is and stands for Procedures Explain what a source citation is
- 6. Go over the different types of source citations Books: Ask students to grab a book from the shelf or one of their own and cite it on a separate sheet of paper that will be turned in at the end of the period. Magazines, Newspapers, & Journals: show examples of 1 of the above that students are not familiar with and then ask students to determine whether the example is a citation of a magazine, journal, or newspaper. Websites: Ask for a few volunteers to cite websites. One student will type in the website and find the information with the help of the class and the other student will write the source citation on the board. Ask for two pairs of students.
