This document summarizes a white paper commissioned by Sport England that reviewed evidence on workplace interventions to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior. The review identified 107 relevant studies that investigated 12 types of interventions. It found strong evidence for supervised on-site exercise classes, group support, active desks, and multicomponent interventions. Moderate evidence was seen for unsupervised exercise, off-site classes, activity prompts, and multicomponent interventions including an online element. Weak evidence was only found for written health education. The evidence suggests employers can help employees be more active through these interventions.
